Hi. My name is “K” and I'm very proud to be able to tell you that I'm a graduate of the Debt Managers, “Debt Management" Program. I am also very pleased to say that I am now working on my “financial wellness” program with my personal financial planner with Partners Financial.
I can honestly tell you that my state of mind today is much better than the day I first went to see a counsellor at Debt Managers. They have definitely helped me to turn my life around and gave me a new positive outlook on life, in general and more particularly; I now have a plan in place to develop a www financial future for my children and me.
When I met with the counsellor in the Abbotsford office, I was truly at the end of my rope. I was 24 years old and my wife had just left me with two young children to look after and provide for. Collectors were calling me every day because I had fallen behind on my payments. Things looked pretty bleak, to say the least. Just when I thought it was a totally hopeless situation, and that Bankruptcy was my only choice, someone told me about Debt Managers. They said that they had seen an ad in the paper saying that they were my “first choice for a second chance”. I certainly didn't want to go bankrupt. I owed the debt and I wanted to pay it, but since I was so far behind in my payments, the creditors wanted all their money at once.
I finally got a job in January of that year and I knew that I could pay something to all my creditors every month, but not as much as they wanted me to pay. So I was very relieved when I met the counsellor and he assured me that Debt Managers could help me and work something out with my creditors that I could afford. And sure enough, that's exactly what they did for me. Soon the collectors stopped calling me as I kept on making my monthly payments faithfully until finally, only two years later in April 1999, I was totally debt free. Everything I had owed was paid in full and I felt great!
In closing, I'd just like to say that Debt Managers and Partners have done everything they promised to do for me, and then some. I will always be grateful for their guidance and help to change the direction of my life and get me back on my feet again when no one else could or would. They helped me to get control of my life again. And right from the beginning, they always gave me hope for a better future, and now it's starting to become a reality for me.

For months prior to having contact with her, I was a mess and worried out my financial situation. From the get go, she turned my fears and anxieties to a more calm and relaxed feeling. Ours is a good story, it never started out good, but who in financial difficulty could say that it ever is? After the lay-off at an excellent job and the continued spending of the life we were accustomed to, we found ourselves in deep financial difficulty. We were terrified to answer the phone knowing the majority of the time it would be a creditor. We were in so much trouble. Then our new Yellow Pages was delivered, as I threw the book down the pages flipped open to the Debt Managers ad, we took it as a sign to make that phone call. We did and the experience has been remarkable.
Debt Managers has been instrumental in the recovery we have made over the last few years. The staff was kind, understanding, and never made us feel like failures. Our account rep. has been incredible, we have called him so many times for the silliest of questions and he has always answered our questions completely and honestly. We are so impressed by the treatment we received as Debt Managers clients that we have recommended the program to people we know experiencing the same difficulties as us and believe us when we say we have never heard one negative remark come back to us.
We started with Debt Managers nearly four years ago with a huge ridiculous debt, we worked out an affordable, simple, repayment schedule, and worked with our creditors to have the interest amounts reduced. Today we are into our last four payments, planning our wedding which we have put off for nearly nine years, have contributed to RRSP's and have a positive financial future being set in place.
